Child Labour is a major problem in India and also seen in many parts across the world. Children are forced to work in hotels, offices, houses and are exploited in several other ways. They are forbidden to go to schools and are forced to work as they have to support their parents in their family income. In some places children are also trained to beg by their parents. Child Labour is punishable act, both the parents and the employer can be put behind the bars are supporting just an event.
In many countries there is a minimum age limit only after which an employer can hire them. The law and order of each and every country should strictly abide by such rules and must take necessary and severe action against anyone seen to break such rule and commit such a heinous crime. There have been many significant acts which have been started in the past decade like The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, The Mines Act and The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.
There are many social activists who have started many campaigns and activities to educate under privileged parents and children of child labour. The Government has enforced primary education compulsory to benefit such children who are deprived of going to schools. Schools also provide one time meal and books to attract the parents and children so that they attend schools and complete their basic education.
There are many non-profit organizations that started many activities to completely eradicate Child Labour. Few of the very significant ones which have made a difference are the UNICEF (United Nations Children’ Fund), Child Right and You and Global March against Child Labour.
